The Kinks Greatest Hits! was the first compilation album released in the US by British rock group The Kinks in 1966. The album consists of some of the most popular singles and songs released by the Kinks since 1964. It is the only Kinks album to reach the US top 10 peaking at Stereo Pressing: All tracks are electronically processed Stereo with added reverb. The 1965 single "See My Friends" was not included on the album as, despite reaching on the UK charts, it only made in the US.

When The Kinks made their UK Comeback with 'Lola', it was almost like 'business as usual' in The Netherlands, where it went straight to feat repeated in 1980 with the live version (not on this album). The Kinks were active for over three decades between 1964 and 1996, releasing 28 regular albums in the UK (24 studio, four live), and 30 in the USA (24 studio, four live, two compilation), where the early albums were slightly different from the British albums partly due to the method that publishing royalties were calculated in the two countries, partly due to difference in popularity of the extended play format (the UK market liked it, the US market didn't, so US albums had the EP releases bundled.

Along with The Live Kinks, it was the sole showcase for the band's early work in the United States for those same 20 years, and it did its job well as far as it went, opening with that rock & roll punch in the chest "You Really Got Me" and advancing from there.
