Kinks is the self-titled debut album by English rock band The Kinks, released in 1964. It was released with three tracks omitted as You Really Got Me in the United States. The album was re-released in 1998 in the UK on Castle Records with twelve bonus tracks. This reissue was itself reissued in 2004 on the Sanctuary label.

Face to Face is the fourth studio album by the English rock band the Kinks, released in October 1966. The album marked the band's shift from the hard-driving style of beat music that had catapulted them to international acclaim in 1964. Being their first album consisting entirely of Ray Davies compositions, it has also been regarded by critics as rock's first concept album.

This is the best album the Kinks have yet made, but, paradoxically, may be the last they will release in this country. This is particularly unfortunate, for it shows great improvement in the Kinks’ music since Face to Face and wide possibilities for the future. And, for the first time, Dave Davies, Ray Davies’ younger brother and lead guitarist, sings lead on his own compositions (which are, incidentally, brilliant).
