Any time a Joan Baez song blares, it sounds like you’re literally sitting at her feet. There’s a beautiful intimacy to her folky ruminations, and her music has long outlived America’s folk heyday in the 1960s. On this day in 1982, Baez performed at Maine’s Cumberland County Civic Center, armed with her three most valuable tools-her stunning soprano voice, an acoustic guitar and a piano. In this concert, she is especially chatty, even addressing the photographers in front of the stage.

Joan Baez in Concert, Part 1 is a live album taken from Joan Baez's 1962 concert tours. It peaked at on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. It was Baez's version of "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" that brought the song to Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's attention; the song is now more commonly associated with Page and Plant's band Led Zeppelin. Malvina Reynolds' "What Have They Done to the Rain" (about nuclear fallout) was the first "topical" song Baez ever recorded.

Joan Baez is the self-titled debut album by folk singer Joan Baez. The album was recorded in the summer of 1960 and released the same year  . In 2001, Vanguard reissued Joan Baez with new liner notes and three previously unreleased songs. Between 2001 and 2005, they reissued remastered versions of Baez' thirteen original albums with the label. In 2014, Waxtime Records reissued Joan Baez with new liner notes and only two bonus tracks from earlier Baez sessions that were originally released in 1959 on the compilation LP Folksingers' Round Harvard Square. These two bonus tracks appear as, track 8 side 1 : O What a Beautiful City and Track 7, side 2; Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair.
