When American jazz pianist Kenny Werner met acclaimed Brazilian vocalist Joyce Moreno at a gig in New York City in 1989, they knew they would collaborate well together. Moreno liked what she heard from the pianist as he interacted seamlessly with the Brazilian musicians she was familiar with, as well as at the Village Vanguard with the Vanguard Orchestra. At the time, Moreno had begun a recording relationship with Verve.
