Mann and Weil were members of the Don Kirchner "Aldon" group of songwriters and like Greenfield/Barry and Goffin/King were close to the Brill-building pop-song factory scene in 1960's Manhattan. Some of the best stuff here is taken from album tracks: the most beautiful melody Barry Mann ever composed, "Angelica" (accent on the penultimate syllable), comes from Scott Walker's 1967 debut solo album.
