Eliane Radigue - Etude (Excerpt) From the piercing abrasiveness of Interior 1, Upper Lip to the melancholic synth patterns of the title track, this album leads us along its seductive, intimate space of sound and emotion. It manages to be both personal and universal at the same time, and retains the ability to occupy various spaces, forming a separate world around the listener. Damien Dubrovnik’s compositions explode in a sheerly confessional manner, empowered by subtle lyrical content.

Swedish artist Martin Bladh works within various mediums. For the listener, you may best know him as the frontman of IRM and Skin Area. I Cavefors; this release will be put out by Swedish publisher Styx Förlag and it is centred around two films with the same title ( included on the DVD) loosely based upon and inspired by the works and ideas of Georges Bataille and emperor Nero. And of course, last but not least I’ve just started my own publishing company called Infinity Land Press together with British based artist Karolina Urbaniak. I had a rather unpleasant experience in London last autumn during a performance of the Island of Death were I cut my thighs so badly that I was plagued by a fever for a couple of days afterwards and thought that I was suffering from blood poisoning, but it turned out OK in the end and now the ‘incident’ is a part of.

Italian comic artist Gipi did an n of the Island of the Dead. Australian Surrealist painter James Gleeson drew a parallel with the painting and the entrance to the underworld in the Aeneid in his 1989 work, Avernus Transvisioned as Böcklin's Isle. In the manga and anime series Kuroshitsuji, is shown a place called "Island of Death", described as a sanctuary for demons and it is also the designated area to commence a formal duel between individuals of the said race. The painting is featured in the Netflix comedy anime series Neo Yokio, in which the characters briefly magically enter the painting itself. The third version of the painting is shown on the cover of this album. Visit on the Island of the Dead (2009-2010) is a symphonic poem for orchestra, composed by the Norwegian composer Kristian Oma Rønnes.

Talk about Martin Bladh & Bo I. Cavefors - The Island Of Death

Siratius
The Island Of Death is based around the Lindbergh case in which the victim was a 20-month-old toddler, abducted from his family home. Over two months later toddlers badly decomposed body was discovered a short distance from the Lindberghs' home. Martin Bladh re-creates the horrific discovery of the decomposed body by recording flies over an interview between American journalist and public commentator, Bill Moyers and American writer and illustrator of children's literature, Maurice Sendak who was seriously affected by the case. The usage of children's rhymes represents the innocence of Lindberghs' baby (and all the young victims of senseless violence) and the noisier parts mirror the twisted mind of a killer, Bruno Richard Hauptmann who was executed by electric chair at the New Jersey State Prison on April 3, 1936. The musical arrangements, the written work, the artwork. It all makes perfect sense and once again Bladh's intelligence shines through his work as he documents the horrific events that took place in a small quiet town in New Jersey.
