Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver on stage at the 2015 Tottenham Bluegrass Festival in Ontario, Canada. Lawson composed a number of the band's songs and tunes. His instrumental piece, "Rosine," is a tribute to Monroe's birthplace and features, among other things, strains from the singer's 1967 instrumental "Kentucky Mandolin". Lawson hosts the annual Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver Festival in Denton, North Carolina. Doyle has been married to Suzanne Lawson since 1978. Hymn Time in the Country. DLQ were were scheduled to perform one song on the show, but when the crowd erupted following this a cappella classic, show host Tim Lovelace came on stage in an unusual move for a scripted Awards Show and invited the Bluegrass legend's group to sing another song! Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver were presented with the Bluegrass Gospel Artist of the Year Award shortly after this performance that night.
