Ian Dury - New Boots And Panties!! flac album

I bought this from HMV in Manchester at the time and took it back the next weekend because of the awful sound (on my music centre!!!) Even at 17 I guess I knew what sounded good and/or shit. Still a cracking record though.

It is all personal opinion but the album contains some cool music, well recorded but spoilt by inane lyrics and Ian's voice.

I have a miss-pressing of this side B pressed onto side B of Rachel Sweet Album Fool Around.

this is a super nice uk 2015 rsd release of this classic from 1977, this has been expanded with a second lp of demos and different takes like the expanded cd was around 10 years back but becouse this is vinyl not quite as many songs made disc two, regardless one lp is very solid orange and the other a very solid green, also when you open the gatefold sleeve a pop up of ian dury pops up ( i have not seen one of these since the judas priest 1980 uk tour programme) so that also gives this great 2 lp set another special old school feel, anyway dury has been gone about 17 years now but as most know he got huge during the 1977 uk punk explosion with THIS RECORD and was always kind of called a punk poet, no matter how you took dury this is one of britains most classic rock records from this era and what a beautiful job they did on this 2015 uk rsd edition...........

Got on of the Scandinavian relaeses and everything is the same, incl. Matrix RunOuts...but I have the grey Stiff label instead of the old black/white one. ??

Anyone else get a copy with cutting material in the grooves? (The invoice said street date of 2012-12-18) It's stuck in my "to be cleaned" pile.

t’s 1977, and I know absolutely nothing about this album or about who the band where. It wasn’t until 1979 (I was approaching 12 years old) when ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’ appeared and I loved it immediately, and still do. It initially came as a massive disappointment to me that it wasn’t on this album, and it isn’t on any album (unless you look at later collections or expanded editions, but back in the day, we didn’t have those) but the tracks here are fabulous, including what is probably the most well known, ‘Sex and Drugs and Rock And Roll’, which is, after all, all a brain and body needs.I went to see Ian Dury and the Music Students at the Oxford Apollo sometime in 1984 I think it was, but I never saw the Blockheads, which was a shame as the tracks from ‘4,000 weeks Holiday’, the only album Dury made with the Music Students, were pretty good but not as good as with the Blockheads. On a side note, I happen to think both the front and back cover images are brilliant.

I can't compare this to the original pressing but this one sounds fantastic to me

Picked up one of these a few days ago. Sad to report that, despite an offensive language warning on the sleeve, the awesome barrage of swearing that kicks off Plaistow Patricia has been excised for the poor, delicate Aussies :(

i have been a huge blockheads fan since 1980 35 years now, today i found this lp at a record fair here in new york and since it is the original stiff pressing from 1978 i just had to grab this one, the thing with this lp that can confuse fans or collectors is sex, drugs and rock n roll IS NOT LISTED ON THE BACK OF THE LP SLEEVE but the song does indeed kick off side 2, if you dont have a turntable handy just count the tracks on side 2 and you will find 6 TRACKS NOT 5 as the back of the lp sleeve suggests, the catlog number for this on my original copy is SEEZ 4 the same as above, the copy the fellow below me is talking about MAY be a boot copy from the 90s as he states there is no sticker on his sleeve THE STICKER IS ON MY SLEEVE what would help me answer that question is the inner sleeve mine is thick with loads of photos of ian from 1970 to 77 when the blockheads where getting started there are many nice photos on the inner sleeve, if the 90s pressing does not have that inner sleeve and does not have the sticker on the front upper right of the lp sleeve then it just MAY be a boot. anyway the fact that they did not print sex, drugs and rock n roll on the b side can cause confusion. as for this lp well i bought this today some 38 years after its release this pressing says 1977 BUT if you read the press release this limited gold vinyl copy came out in 1978 about a year AFTER the original first pressing on stiff records in 1977 due to the fact the blockheads in 1977 and early 78 scored 2 huge hits in england off this lp so there was a limited gold vinyl run in 1978 and from what i gather THIS IS THAT LP AS I AM HOLDING IT RIGHT NOW WRITING THIS, i paid 30 usd for this today only becouse it is in as mint shape as it can be for a record about 37 years old and im a huge fan, i hope what i have printed here helps with the confusion surrounding this limited 1978 release, i sure miss ian dury as it has been about 15 years now since he passed, most fans prefer this album to his others but actually my favorite was his 1980 release laughter wich i have an original japan pressing of as well as the original us version i bought 35 years back, the blockheads where awesome when they started in 77 BUT WHEN WILCO JOHNSON JOINED BY EARLY 79 well those 3 years he was with the blockheads where ians best years just like DR FEELGOODS best years where with wilco from 1974 to 1977....................................................if you are looking for this classic on vinyl GET THIS ONE its nice

Curiously I have a version of this disc (SEEZ 04 NP The 1977 Portugal Issue)with exactly the same blue labels as seen in the images for this entry BUT my copy has 11 tracks: with the addition of a bonus track on the B side (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll). Tracklist . A1 Wake Up And Make Love With Me 4:30 A2 Sweet Gene Vincent 3:30 A3 I'm Partial To Your Abracadabra 3:30 A4 My Old Man 3:30 A5 Billericay Dickie 4:00 B1a Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll 3:30 B1b Clevor Trever 5:00 B2 If I Was With A Woman 3:00 B3 Blockheads 4:00 B4 Plaistow Patricia 4:00 B5 Blackmail Man 2:00 Has anyone also seen this before as I cannot find any reference to this anomaly at all?? Just picked up an old copy today. Seems I have a different issue: Stiff # USE-2, 1977, white stiff logo on orange label, with black text.

Could there have been a later gold pressing of this? I bought a copy at some point during the 1990's which plays really well with no hiss and neither does it say 'Special unlimited gold edition' anywhere on it. Cover artwork is as the original 1977 release and does not list 'Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll' which opens side two.
