Six is the sixth studio (instrumental) album (half including live material) by the jazz rock band Soft Machine, originally released in 1973 as a double LP. The previous two albums had been issued with slightly different titles in different countries (Fourth and Fifth in the UK, Four and 5 in the USA, with the former album showing a numeral 4 on the cover, while the album before that had been titled Third worldwide).

Six actually sounds like a continuation of Third and that's a great thing. These jams are much easier to get into (in other words, less challenging) not to mention quite melodic and exciting for the most part, compared to the Fourth and Fifth albums.
