Tracklist Symphony No. 1 (Spring), Konzertstück for Four Horns, Overture, Scherzo and Finale. 1. Overture, Scherzo and Finale, op. 52: 1. Overture - Andante con moto. 38, "Spring": 1. Andante un poco maestoso.

The first of these works is the overture for Schumann's 1842 opera "Genoveva", the only one he composed (it only received three complete performances in Schumann's day). in this Schumann collection. Their performance of the "Genoveva" overture is appropriately dramatic; and when it comes to the Spring Symphony and the O-S-F, they are bested only by Wolfgang Sawallisch's 1972 recordings with the Dresden State Orchestra on EMI. The high quality of the performances on hand show that the . especially under Leppard's steady hand, was and still is comparable to its companions in nearby Chicago, Philadelphia, and Cleveland. Even if one is already flush with Schumann recordings, this one is well worth considering.
