The resulting album, Cool From The Wire in 1988, entered the Billboard chart, while getting substantial airplay on MTV for their video for the song "Oh Ruby". Produced by Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Lynch Mob), it is still regarded by many as one of the best hard rock albums of all time. Twenty five years later, Cool From The Wire continues to sell online and in record stores all across the globe. Their album of outtakes, Bootlegs was released in 1991, then the group broke up in 1993 following the release of Five Easy Pieces with Ostergaard forming Rumbledog with Robin Crosby of Ratt and Paul Monroe of XYZ, Lidel hooking up with Dangerous Toys (and later Broken Teeth and Adrenaline Factor) and bassist Brian Perry resurfacing in Jake E. Lee's "Wicked Alliance" and. in Prong.

With that being said, Dirty Looks still has something to say. Tracks here that definitely make this CD worth clearing a space in your music collection to keep around awhile are the title cut "Cool From The Wire", the ss-kicking "Ruby" (possibly the disc's best tune, used to love cathing this video on Mtv's Headbanger's Ball), "Put A Spell On You" and "It's A B th".

I consider this album, and Dirty Looks’ 1989 follow-up Turn Of The Screw to be two sorely overlooked sleaze metal triumphs. The heart and soul of Dirty Looks was Danish born Henrik Ostergaard. He formed the band in the mid-eighties and continued to record music under the Dirty Looks banner up until his early demise in 2011. The formula was a simple one; greasy blues-based riffing and palm-muted chugging over palatable, pulse-pounding beats. Henrik’s raspy voice was tinged with a bit of that Bon Scott magic, and the result was sleaze city. Check out Ostergaard’s spot-on Bon Scott impression during the middle part of Oh Ruby.
