Front 242 is a Belgian electronic music group that came into prominence during the 1980s. Front 242 were formed in 1981 in Aarschot, near Leuven, Belgium, by Daniel Bressanutti and Dirk Bergen, who wanted to create music and graphic design using emerging electronic tools. Pulse is the eighth studio album by Front 242, released on May 6, 2003 through Metropolis Records. It was the group's first full-length studio release in ten years since 1993's 05:22:09:12 Off, marking their largest gap between albums. Unusually for Front 242, the album predominantly comprises a set of suites divided into sub-tracks.

Following the extensive 1993 tour, Front 242 took a temporary break which many assumed to be permanent after nothing was heard from the band for four years, while the individual members pursued other recording projects and work. 1997 brought a return to action in the live arena, and while no new songs were on offer, the bandmembers stated that they wanted to try new techno-inspired arrangements and presentations of many old songs. The results can be heard on Re:Boot, taken from two European dates in 1997 and 1998.
