Levon Helm was arguably the heart and soul of the Band, and his back-porch Arkansas drawl gave many of the Band's best songs their strong sense of history and character. He was a remarkable vernacular singer in a band that had three of them (Rick Danko and Richard Manuel also knew how to put heart and soul into a song), and the Band, thanks in no small part to Helm, essentially put the Americana genre on the map in the mid-'60s.

Love for Levon: Benefit To Save The Barn was a concert held on October 3, 2012 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The concert was a tribute to the life of The Band lead vocalist and drummer Levon Helm.

This LOVE FOR LEVON extravaganza features 27 songs capped by a full group finale of The Weight, one of Levon's greatest moments on record. On this magical night, everyone felt the outpouring of love toward Levon. That evening, one at a time, or sometimes in pairs, music royalty took turns in the spotlight, performing songs associated with Levon Helm and the Band. The star-studded benefit concert took place at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey and featured once-in-a-lifetime collaborations by friends and admirers gathered together to celebrate and honor Levon Helm. Performances included GRAMMY, CMA, ACM, Americana and Dove Award-winning musicians. An all-star band was led by GRAMMY Award-winners Don Was and Larry Campbell who served as co-musical directors.
