My Funny Valentine: Miles Davis in Concert is a 1965 live album by Miles Davis. It was recorded at a concert at the Philharmonic Hall of Lincoln Center, New York City, NY, on February 12, 1964. Miles also recorded a studio version of the title song, muted, with piano trio backing in 1956.

For this release: Because of the unusual length of the musical portions of the concert, the spoken introduction by Mort Fega is not included on this record.

Recorded on February 12, 1964 and released in 1965, My Funny Valentine was just one of those blessed nights when the great jazz trumpeter’s quintet performed with such incandestant beauty that’s rare for such an ensemble-both small or large, to whom he is joined by session saxophonist George Coleman (before he was replaced by Wayne Shorter) who had played with.

Double Bass – Ron Carter Drums – Tony Williams Piano – Herbie Hancock Tenor Saxophone – George Coleman Trumpet – Miles Davis.

Miles, who liked to provoke his collaborators, never doubted that the concert’s intensity originated in the musicians’ negative feelings. This exceptional concert was released on two records: The first, in 1965, brought together the evening’s four ballads-pure transcendence from start to finish-along with All Blues (whose second introduction contains Miles’ most explicit reference to the first notes of his 80s’ hit Jean Pierre ).
