Immigrance, the new Snarky Puppy studio album, is all about movement. The idea here is that everything is fluid, that everything is always moving and that we’re all in a constant state of immigration, explains Michael League. Listen to Immigrance Now. Latest News. In the weeks leading up to recording Immigrance, I was trying to write a song to contribute. It wasn't going well. The day before leaving I still had nothing I liked.

Produced by bassist and bandleader Michael League, 2019's Immigrance continues this trajectory with a set of highly kinetic instrumental tracks (purportedly inspired by the band's travels around the globe) that balance exploratory improvisation with intricately arranged group interplay. As with past Snarky Puppy albums, Immigrance is less about each bandmember's individual improvisational contribution (though there are moments of brilliant soloing), and more focused on the group's intricate, mutative arrangements.

Music for the brain and booty. Immigrance is now out worldwide (Japan, we got you on April 3) digitally and on CD with vinyls shipping out next Friday. A lot of people put a lot of love into making this album, and I hope you feel it. Big shout out to Zeycan Alkis and Amalia Drewes for their work on the art and layout, Nic Hard and Dave McNair on making it sound pretty, Stella K for running the cameras, Rosanna Freedman for handling all the ugly details, the whole Sonic Ranch Recording Studio posse for their hard work and beautiful space, Mike Chadwick (happy birthday, buddy!) and Sue Handley

Released March 15, 2019. Immigrance Tracklist. 2. Bigly Strictness Lyrics.

Snarky Puppy is a Brooklyn-based Instrumental music ensemble led by bassist Michael League. Snarky Puppy combines jazz, rock, and funk and has won three Grammy Awards. Although the band has worked with vocalists, League described Snarky Puppy as "a pop band that improvises a lot, without vocals". Usually appearing with nine to twelve members for live performances, Snarky Puppy's two most recent albums, Culcha Vulcha and Immigrance, were recorded using nineteen members.

Snarky Puppy – Immigrance. Immigrance is by no means a failure of an album, yet coming from Snarky Puppy, it is hard not to feel disappointed in the end product; a greatest hits record, full of no great hits.

The idea here is that everything is fluid, that everything is always moving and that we’re all in a constant state of immigration," explains Michael League. Obviously the album’s title is not without political undertones. Like Culcha Vulcha, Immigrance is a studio project, and it features most of the same musicians.
