Steve Hackett's "Hackett to Bits" was a simplified version of the title track from his Please Don't Touch album. It had no connection with the similarly titled "Hackett to Pieces" from Highly Strung. Asia later recorded their own version of the Downes-penned "The Hunter" for their 1997 compilation album Anthology. Steve Hackett's last release for Charisma Records in Britain is one of his strongest efforts. Hackett once again handles all the lead vocals, but sounds more assured in the role than he did on Cured. 'Highly Strung'' might be one of the best albums of the 80's; anyway that was my impression. It's a consistent mix of pop, rock and prog. It sounds more 'commercial' than ''Voyage of the Acolyte'' and ''Spectral Mornings'', what with that whole '80s production' thing and a few 'simple' songs. Although GTR is considered by many to be Steve Hackett's first truly commercial rock album, in many respects, Highly Strung is really his first foray into straight-ahead mainstream pop/rock.
