More Than Words" is a song by rock band Extreme. It is the fifth track and third single from their 1990 album Pornograffitti. It is a ballad built around acoustic guitar work by Nuno Bettencourt and the vocals of Gary Cherone (with harmony vocals from Bettencourt). The song is a detour from the funk metal style that permeates the band's records.

Love Is More Than Words. The Settlers started out in the 60s, their first release in 1964. They were a trio for their debut album (Island ILP 947A, 1967), Mike Jones, Cindy Kent and John Fyfe, mixing Dylan with folk/bluegrass. They soon added a bass player, Geoff, who lived in the same house as Tony Hooper in Hampstead that inspired the Strawbs song "Pieces of 79 and 15". The Settlers used to perform several tracks by the Strawbs, including "Always On My Mind" and "You Keep Going Your Way".

Since "More Than Words" and "Hole Hearted" were so successful, many listeners assumed they were indicative of Extreme's sound, and got a shock when they bought the album or went to a show. According to Nuno, he came up with most of this song sitting on a porch, alone with his guitar. It came to him very quickly, as most of his songs do (Nuno will abandon a song if it doesn't come quickly). British band BBMak covered this on their Sooner or Later album and also performed it at MTV's New Years Party in 2001. The Pop band Westlife also covered this song on their album Westlife in 1999. He wants oral from his girl and is asking for her to give it to him and that would show her love more than telling him. Whoever said this song was played at their wedding in 1980 is a bonehead.
