Weird Al" Yankovic is the debut album by American parodist Alfred "Weird Al" Yankovic. The album was the first of many produced by former The McCoys guitarist Rick Derringer. Mostly recorded in March 1982, the album was released by Rock 'n Roll Records as an LP and on Compact Cassette in 1983.

Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic (/ˈjæŋkəvɪk/ YANG-kə-vik; born October 23, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, satirist, actor, voice actor, music video director, comedian, and author. He is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts, original songs that are style pastiches of the work of other acts, and polka medleys of several popular songs, featuring his favored instrument, the accordion.

There’s no denying that Weird Al Yankovic has been a fixture of American popular culture for the last four decades and counting, thanks to his rich catalog of pop song parodies, artist-specific style pastiches, polka medleys, and supremely underrated original compositions. The accordion-clad musical satirist has amassed a multitude of music industry milestones: 14 standalone full length albums, four Grammy Awards, and six platinum albums

In an interview with the Metro newspaper August 1, 2003 Yankovic added: "He was the first megastar to give his blessing. When he let me do 'Eat It,' it raised.

The album was released in 1984 on LP and Cassette and released on CD in 1986. The album was re-issued on CD in 1999 by Volcano Records alongside all of his other studio albums that were released before Volcano Records bought Scotti Bros. With his new album "Mandatory Fun," "Weird Al" Yankovic is up to his usual hijinks - selecting some of the most defining pop songs of the past few years and spoofing them with some devastatingly funny one-liners. How does Yankovic do it? With razor-sharp wit that never cuts too deep, and an inherent silliness that can make the stone-faced adults giggle like little kids
