Pankow are a German rock band, founded in East Berlin in 1981. Their name came from the Berlin district of Pankow, which was once home to most of the officials of the East German government. The band's original lineup consisted of Jürgen Ehle, André Herzberg, Rainer Kirchmann, Jäcki Reznicek and Frank Hille. Other members were Stefan Dohanetz, Ingo York and Jens Jensen.

it was from the beginning a small villa area around the castle in Pankow. A lot of manufacturers lived here from the 20th century on. After the 2WW this area was occupied till 1960 by the SED and KPD politicans like WALTER ULBRICHT (house destroyed in 2002 to tilling the history of this man) and ERICH HONECKER (actually a funny house is this one, nowadays a kindergarten (!!!)). Everyone else who lived here had to move to another place from 1950 on and they built a wall around this small area.
