The Ben Vaughn Combo at Folk City, 1985. Although nowadays Vaughn is a wildly successful West Coast composer and songwriter, he originally came from humble beginnings in Philadelphia. Honing his chops in garage/trash bands such as the Lux and Ivy produced sickidz! and Pink Slip Daddy, before striking out on his own with the BV Combo's debut single "My First Band" on Telstar Records. 1985 though became a banner year for the band as their classic Lysergic Emanations album was released to much acclaim in Europe. It would eventually make its stateside debut the following year on Pink Dust, a subsidiary of Enigma Records.
