Jokerman" is a song by Bob Dylan that appeared as the opening track of his 1983 album Infidels. Recorded on April 14, 1983, it was released as a single on June 1, 1984, featuring a live version of "Isis" from the film Renaldo and Clara as its B-side. In addition to appearing on Infidels, "Jokerman" appeared on several Dylan "Best of" compilations, including Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume 3, The Best of Bob Dylan, The Essential Bob Dylan, and the deluxe version of Dylan.

Infidels is the 22nd studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on October 27, 1983 by Columbia Records. Produced by Mark Knopfler and Dylan himself, Infidels is seen as his return to secular music, following a conversion to Christianity, three evangelical, gospel records and a subsequent return to a less religious lifestyle.

Four years later, Knopfler produced another Dylan album, Infidels, and played on the hallowed Blind Willie McTell, which misty-eyed Dylanologists decree his best song since the early 1970s.

Mark Knopfler's new album, 'Tracker,' features two songs written while touring with Bob Dylan. For Mark Knopfler, this year’s 30th anniversary of Dire Straits‘ Brothers in Arms - and its Number One hit, Money for Nothing - is bittersweet. In retrospect, the record marked the beginning of the end of the band. It reached a critical mass and an awful lot of people wanted to see us live, Knopfler recalls from his studio in London. Tracker, his eighth solo album, is quintessential Knopfler. Backed by his longtime solo-career band, which still includes former Dire Straits keyboardist Guy Fletcher, Knopfler sings of a lonesome gravedigger ( Mighty Bones ), a derelict ( River Towns ) and a newspaper copy boy, inspired by his own youth ( Basil ) to craft moody, mournful, Celtic-inflected arrangements sprinkled with his characteristic spiraling guitar lines.
