Terence Boylan is an American singer/songwriter. Brought up in Buffalo, New York, Terry Boylan first appeared on local radio in the late 1950s performing a song he had written at the age of 11. While still in his mid teens, in the early 1960s, he performed in Greenwich Village and, following a chance meeting with Bob Dylan, was encouraged to pursue a solo music career in upstate New York.

Terence Boylan ‎– Terence Boylan. Label: Asylum Records ‎– 7E-1091. Thanks to these people: John Boylan and Steve Hodge, Chuck Plotkin, Paul Grupp, Timothy Schmit, Donald Fagen, Lila Garnett, Anne Garner. Thank you also to Saul Bellow, Carlos Baker, Robert Motherwell. This album is definitely dedicated to Sam and Jean. Matrix, Runout (Label Side A): 7E-1091-A (PRC}.

Here Boylan shows an edge and even a touch of nastiness that isn't evident in the bulk of his work. Even his vocal delivery seems to have a tougher, almost punkish quality on these tunes, as opposed to his usual Jackson Browne-like throatiness. Unfortunately, the majority of Suzy - which utilizes many of the same heavy hitters as Terence Boylan as well as guitarists Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Larry Carlton, pianist Paul Harris, and even Chevy Chase playing Fender Rhodes on the quirky "Miso Soup" - lacks the punch and vibrancy of the sparsely produced tracks.

Terence Boylan is an American singer/songwriter. Brought up in Buffalo, New York, Terence Boylan first appeared on local radio in the late 1950s performing a song he had written at the age of 11.

On his eponymous debut for Asylum, Terence Boylan gave the label everything it could possibly have wanted from one of its artists in 1977: confessional singer-songwriter ballads, slick Steely Dan -style . jazz-pop, Eagle harmonies, and a bevy of . session heavyweights. Boylan doesn't really offer anything particularly new here, but he is capable of writing tight, catchy, thoughtful California pop. Lyrically, he covers much of your basic singer-songwriter territory (love lost, coming of age, reflection), as well as tales of life in the tropics and even a song about a witch.
