Genesis Archive 1967-75, is a boxed set issued in 1998. This boxed set is by progressive rock band Genesis. This set features live recordings and rarities from when Peter Gabriel was lead singer. The Who needed two rock operas to reach their apex, but Genesis climaxed first time out with The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. On the live version which takes up half of this four-CD box, the Peter Gabriel-fronted incarnation goes out with a bang, dressing up its art rock in black leather and brass knuckles.

This was Genesis first album (predating "Trespass", which many assume to be their first album), and was produced by pop music impresario Jonathan King. King's influence is strong, with strings overlaid on many of the short, pop orientated songs. The result is similar to the way Phil Spector hijacked the Beatles "Let it be" album. As a massive Genesis fanatic it was inevitable I would get around to this album, which is marginally better than the troubled 80s era, but it has no chance against the 70s albums of Genesis that are simply masterpieces.

In 2007 Genesis was back on tour, with Phil Collins once again back in the fold and the band’s sixth live album, Live Over Europe 200 7, was the product of the tour. Mama’ was a tough one to leave off the list from their Genesis album, the original studio record from which ‘Mama’ was taken. When the studio version came out as a single in 1983 it reached N. on the UK charts, making it their most successful single on home territory. Phil Collins vocal on this live version is definitive, a song full of passion, menace and theatrical flourishes.
