Genesis Live is the first live album from the English rock band Genesis, released in July 1973 on Charisma Records. Initially recorded for radio broadcast on the American rock program King Biscuit Flower Hour, the album is formed from the recordings of shows at Free Trade Hall, Manchester and De Montfort Hall, Leicester in February 1973 during the band's tour supporting their fourth studio album Foxtrot (1972).

It was 40 years ago that Genesis performed in this studio and 10 years ago that I did our first transfer of this 16mm film in PAL format (720x576). But the best of the best is the Spirit DataCine in 2K (2048 pixel CCD resolution) and is used for Hollywood films, as well as PG's recent Secret World Blu-Ray DVD. Of course it is far more common nowadays to see 35mm, transferred by the Spirit in 4K since the film is bigger.

The Genesis presented on From Genesis to Revelation isn't really the band fans grew to love. But Revelations remains fascinating as a historical document, planting subtle seeds of the folk-prog sound that would bloom on the following year's Trespass. The album did launch their breakthrough American hit, "Follow You Follow Me" – but that track's seductive gloss overshadowed the artier leanings of tracks like "The Lady Lies," a jazz-prog tale of an over-eager warrior and his demon-in-disguise maiden.

This dark and emotional track has Eminem considering his Shady alter-ego a monster. The monster could also be the fame which has taken so much from him, or perhaps the true monster is his mind and the demons that plague it. This hook was co-written by Bebe Rexha and Jon Bellion, and went on to win the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2015 Grammys.
