case/lang/veirs is a Canadian-American supergroup consisting of Neko Case, . lang, and Laura Veirs, formed in Portland, Oregon. The group launched with a June 2016 eponymous album, followed by a summer 2016 tour of almost 20 cities. The trio was formed three years before the album release, when Lang, in a one-line e-mail, invited Case and Veirs to join her, and they responded affirmatively within 30 minutes. The three had decades of experience making music and recorded over 30 studio albums.

lang, and indie folk star Laura Veirs. The supergroup was initiated when . They both answered yes within half an hour. Writing the album was made more easy because both Lang and Veirs resided in Portland, Oregon. However, Lang also stated in the 2016 EMP Pop Conference Key Note that case/lang/veirs involved a brutal shedding of egos. Lang said that Veirs did the bulk of the songwriting, she did the bulk of the criticism, and Neko showed up and would be brilliant in spurts. The album was produced by Tucker Martine with the group. case/lang/veirs Q&A.

lang, and Laura Veirs are a bewitchingly lovely folk-rock supergroup. On their debut album as case/lang/veirs, the singer/songwriter titans combine their distinctive vocals and beguiling melodies. The songs on which Case takes lead (like the gorgeous opening track Atomic Number ) are girded with poignant melancholy, while lang’s tracks (the yearning Blue Fires is one such highlight) are as smooth and seductive as her legendary croon. Veirs brings a clever indie-rock sensibility to the warm, wonderful Best Kept Secret

Renews automatically. Felt the compulsion to balance out the oddly-considered perspective on this collaboration by the e-Fan. The harmonies and songwriting are spectacular. 18 people found this helpful.

love this record. just cleaned it again [Audio Desk System Pro] to see if it'll clean up more of the noise on the quiet tracks. But highly recommended vinyl purchase, especially on a warm tube analog system. Just flows. Regarding the earlier review of this being compressed and hard....I don't claim to be an authority on mastering and all that.....but my vinyl copy seems to be more open and airy than many of the new records I buy. So I can't complain or diss this pressing. It sounds fantastic on my system (other than some of the noise during the quiet parts). I just wish there was a list of who's singing what part on which song as I don't know Lang and Veirs voices as well as Neko's. But still, highly recommended for the music and the pressing (despite some light noise, which is only evident on the super quiet parts).NOISEY TRACKS (for me, on my record)Behind the ArmorySupermoonFor the nerds who care. My best try at identification (ear and googlin') indicates that these be the leads. Beautiful songs but the vinyl sounds compressed and hard. Don't know if it's a recording/mastering/pressing issues or if I just got a bad copy?

I have had no prior experience with any of these solo artists, and basically picked it up on impulse. It's a nice, sombre, multi-faceted album with good sound. Very folky, but there's influences of pop, country, and alt rock in there, too. Generally not a fan of that sort of sound, but the tracks "Georgia Stars" and "Best Kept Secret" really do it for me.
