Schwanengesang ("Swan song"), D 957, is a collection of songs written by Franz Schubert at the end of his life and published posthumously. The collection was named by its first publisher Tobias Haslinger, presumably wishing to present it as Schubert's final musical testament to the world. Unlike the earlier Die schöne Müllerin and Winterreise, it contains settings of three poets, Ludwig Rellstab (1799–1860), Heinrich Heine (1797–1856) and Johann Gabriel Seidl (1804–1875).

Schubert: Schwanengesang, D. 957 - Kriegers Ahnung. I was astonished at the amount of songs (66) on this 3 cd album. Die schone Mullerin, Winterreise and Schanengesang. I mainly bought it because I love Schanengesang, but was delighted with the oter two complete works of Schubert.

Franz Peter Schubert was one of the finest music composers of the 19th century. His involvement in music started when he was six years old. His father and brother Ignaz are said to have contributed to his early involvements in music. His father taught him to play the violin while is brother Ignaz gave him piano lessons. Schubert love for music grew and so he was given the opportunity to take music lessons from Michael Holzer the church choirmaster and organist. Schubert started to perform before public audiences while he was a part of his father’s string quartet.
