Purple is the fourth studio album by metal band Baroness. It was released December 18, 2015 through the band's newly founded label Abraxan Hymns. It is the first album to be released by the band following their involvement in the 2012 bus accident that left nine people injured; it is also the first album to feature new band members Nick Jost and Sebastian Thomson, playing bass/keyboards and drums respectively and the last album to feature Pete Adams before his departure from the band in 2017.
Yellow & Green showcases this new take in spades. As Baizley put it, "the Baroness-circa-2012 definition of heavy not a tuning and it's not necessarily a volume; it's more of a feeling or an idea or some goal post that we're headed towards. And, practically speaking, the cleaner singing is a kind of survival tactic: His and backup vocalist Pete Adams' vocal cords couldn't continue along the raw, shouting path they'd set for themselves earlier on. Baizley stressed that, although it's a double LP, Yellow & Green is not a concept record.
This two-disc album exemplifies Baroness' efforts to do just that. We didn't want to do the same thing," drummer Allen Blickle told Loudwire in a recent interview. We figured we needed something more, a longer album to do i. After the opening 'Yellow Theme,' the band explodes into the first single, 'Take My Bones Away . Yellow & Green' has solidified Baroness as forces to be reckoned with in the world of music as a whole. There is no question that it will stand the test of time. Baroness grows with each step they take, and 'Yellow & Green' is their biggest step forward yet. Filed Under: Baroness.

Apparently, just one primary color was no longer enough to cover the volume of ideas produced by Atlanta, Georgia's Baroness for its third long-playing release, and thus the 2012 follow-up to 2007's Red Album and 2009's Blue Record has become an 18-song double set named Yellow & Green. The irony is there's no obvious cohesive theme or musical direction particular to either color (Green might be a shade more morose, if at all), as each contains an equally schizophrenic array of musical touchstones, too eclectic to easily categorize.

With "Yellow & Green", some of the same complaints were uttered. Even upon first listen, I was feeling confused and disappointed that yet another band was leaving behind a slew of top shelf material for possible attention elsewhere. After what feels like a thousand listens since then, I can assure you that I was completely wrong. There is no doubt that Baroness has softened the surface level approach on this double album. For the most part, gone are the barrage of stampeding riffs and mammoth driving percussive rhythms.
Yellow & Green sits apart from the stunning sludge of Red Album and Blue Record, material that made everyone from the metal press to the indie sheets sit up and take notice of the Savannah, Georgia quartet. This double album effort is a distinctly mellower affair. The abrasive vocals of yore are only hinted at, and the instrumentation has taken on more of a sprawling rock sound. But it’s brilliantly realised – the kind of album that will set Baroness apart from their peers in years to come
