Lady Be Good Songtext. Listen to my tale of woe, It's terribly sad but true, All dressed up, no place to go Each evening I'm awfully blue. I must win some handsome guy Can't go on like this, I could blossom out I know, With somebody just like you. So. Oh, sweet and lovely lady, be good Oh, lady, be good to me I am so awfully misunderstood So lady, be good to me Oh, please have some pity I'm all-alone in this big city I tell you I'm just a lonesome babe in the wood, So lady be good to me. Oh, please have some pity I'm all alone in this big city I tell you I'm.

Oh, Lady Be Good is found on the album The Best of the Great American Composers, Vol. 6, Pt. 1. Found on more albums: Rhapsody in Blue George Gershwin. 101 Strings Orchestra – Oh, Lady Be Good.

After a tumultuous adolescence, Fitzgerald found stability in musical success with the Chick Webb Orchestra, performing across the country but most often associated with the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem. Fitzgerald's rendition of the nursery rhyme "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" helped boost both her and Webb to national fame. After taking over the band when Webb died, Fitzgerald left it behind in 1942 to start her solo career. In 1993, she ended her nearly 60-year career with her last public performance. Three years later, she died at the age of 79 after years of declining health.

It was introduced by Walter Catlett in the Broadway musical Lady, Be Good!, written by Guy Bolton, Fred Thompson, and the Gershwin brothers, starring Fred and Adele Astaire.
