Let's Dance is the 15th studio album by David Bowie. It was originally released in April 1983, almost three years after his previous album, Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
Produced by Nile Rodgers. Ah, ah, ah, ah. (Let's dance) (Let's dance) (Let's dance) Put on your red shoes and dance the blues (Let's dance) To the song they're playing on the radio (Let's sway) While colour lights up your face (Let's sway) Sway through the crowd to an empty space.
Black Tie White Noise.
Let's Dance comes tearing out of the gate, propulsed by the skittering "Modern Love," the seductively menacing "China Girl," and the brittle funk of the title track.
Easily one of the most blatantly mainstream efforts in Bowie's discography, but as far as Bowie's pop albums go, few are as good as 'Let's Dance'. Built around quality grooves, catchy choruses, and a trio of killer singles, 'Let's Dance' is simply a great '80s pop record. Fav Tunes: . Let's Dance . Modern Love . China Girl. 81. David Bowie goes back to the pop roots of "Young Americans" with a "new wave" twist (a style he ironically criticized in "Scary Monsters And Super Creeps")
Let’s Dance may have had a ground-breaking sound and a popularity that Bowie clearly ached for, but it’s often a mundane album, as songs like Ricochet and Shake It mark time until a single turns up. (It’s possibly significant that one of the best songs here is Criminal World, a cover of a song by obscure Bowie clones Metro). But when Bowie growled, on another of the album’s excellent singles Modern Love, "I know when to go out, And when to stay in, And get things done," he wasn’t kidding. Let’s Dance was literally the template for 80s Bowie – blonde, suited and smiling
