Toy is an unreleased album by English musician David Bowie, recorded for release in 2001, and leaked onto the Internet in 2011. Although Bowie had begun recording the album intending to feature new versions of some of his earliest pieces as well as three new songs, its sessions led him to Heathen (2002) and it was never released officially. Bowie recorded the album Toy for release in 2001 or 2002.

David Bowie went into the studio to start work on a new album. Towards the end of the sessions, he decided that some of the work would survive onto his next album, which would become Heathen. The rest, new interpretations of his past lesser-known songs, and a handful of new tracks, became known as ‘lost album’ Toy, and were mysteriously shelved. Toy, from magical 60s postcards such as ‘In The Heat Of The Morning’ and ‘Silly Boy Blue’, is a ghost in its own right, living up fully to its legend, lingering with the listener as one of Bowie’s most heartfelt, human, warm and joyous creations – of any decade. Apparently, Bowie wasn’t satisfied with it.

Although Toy remains unreleased, a few tracks - including "Afraid" and "Slip Away" (then titled "Uncle Floyd") - appeared on Heathen. Some other re-recorded songs were included as B-sides to the singles from Heathen. I consider myself as a newbie on Bowie. I say I became Bowie's fan since I got my copy of "Diamond dogs".

David Bowie‘s Toy, an album that was originally intended to be released in 2001, has leaked online. A high-quality rip of the full 14-track record surfaced on bit torrent sites on Sunday, much to the delight of Bowie completists around the world. The album – a set featuring re-recorded and significantly revamped versions of some of Bowie’s earliest and most obscure songs – was shelved due to a dispute with Virgin, his label at the time.
