Parlophone Records are proud to announce David Bowie Loving The Alien (1983 – 1988), the fourth in a series of box sets spanning his career from 1969. Among the studio and live albums from the period, the set will also contain an exclusive new production of the 1987 album Never Let Me Down, by Bowie producer/engineer Mario McNulty with new instrumentation by Bowie collaborators Reeves Gabrels, David Torn, Sterling Campbell and Tim Lefebvre.

Serious Moonlight really introduced me to David Bowie when it aired on HBO, if i& not mistaken back in the 80&.I knew of him, but wasn& a fan until i saw Serious Moonlight. And it's a shame there isn't more tour video between this Serious Moonlight show and the 1973 Hammersmith Odeon farewell to Ziggy (it's a crime that there isn't tour video from the Thin White Duke or Diamond Dogs tours). This video is visually compelling but the audio is really, really bad. The audio sounds like it was played it of an AM radio from across the street.

Longtime Bowie collaborators including guitarist Reeves Gabriel and drummer Sterling Campbell, Blackstar bassist Tim Lefebvre and composer Nico Muhly also contributed to the project, which was born out of Bowie’s desire to rerecord the 1987 LP that he called a bitter disappointment. Why David Bowie Considered 'Never Let Me Down' LP a 'Bitter Disappointment'. How David Bowie, Nile Rodgers Made 'Let's Dance' a Hit. Inside David Bowie's 1984 Pop Detour 'Tonight'. The track was issued on the iSelect compilation to much acclaim and, in the notes for that record, David remarked ‘Oh, to redo the rest of that album. In early January, the musicians involved entered New York’s Electric Lady Studios to fulfill Bowie’s wish and remake Never Let Me Down, which now features a guest appearance by Laurie Anderson on Shining Star (Makin’ My Love).

Talk about David Bowie - Serious Business - Concert '83

Zeueli
a great show, the recdording is just a little too distant to achieve greatness

The sound is rather poor: fair to good audience, one of the worst of this tour. Released also as seperate discs e.g. "Cat People Let's Dance" and "Modern Love For Young Americans" or Moonlight Special Pt.1 & 2 with the same poor quality maintained, but with wrong info (claims to be recorded in Frankfurt Festhalle 20.05.1983 or a mixture of both shows on the latter release)
