Laboratory Music 5 consisted of 15 duo improvisations by 30 improvisers of many different skill and experience levels, ages, origins, orientations, and backgrounds. Ad hoc duos were paired by drawing names from a beer pitcher. Improvising duos were required to use minimal gear setups, with a nine minute time limit for improvisations.
