Ashes of Ares debut album is filled with powerful vocals, bone-crushing riffs, and pummeling drums. Matt Barlow shows us that his voice is as stalwart as always. He demonstrates his ability to master several vocal styles, from the softer tracks like 'The Answer' to the pulverizing songs like 'Move The Chains' and 'Punishment'. Although Freddie Vidales only played bass for Iced Earth in the past, he tackles the lead guitar duties on this album, and does not disappoint. Van Williams adds drumming that helps some of the songs stand out from others. Ashes of Ares' is an album that many loyal Barlow fans were waiting for since its very first announcement, and it lives up to the expectations.
