Fairport Convention is Fairport Convention's debut album. The band formed in 1967, with the original line-up consisting of Richard Thompson (guitar); Simon Nicol (guitar); Ashley Tyger Hutchings (bass); and Sean Frater (drums), who was replaced after their first gig by Martin Lamble

Only for completionists (11%). From the Northwest Passage to Cape Horn. This is the latest studio album at the time of writing by Fairport Convention. Despite some good moments, Festival Bell is an average album and not the best place to begin with latter day Fairport Convention. Start instead with some of the albums I mentioned above, particularly the excellent (and weakly conceptual) Jewel In The Crown.

Features Song Lyrics for Fairport Convention's Festival Bell album. 14. The Festival Bell Lyrics. Fairport Convention Lyrics provided by SongLyrics. Lyricapsule: The Surfaris Drop ‘Wipe Out’; June 22, 1963. RIFF’d: Nas’ ‘Nasir’. Lyricapsule: The Byrds Drop ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’; June 21, 1965.

Sanders contributes "Ukulele Central," perhaps the least typical tune on the album, a ille number featuring a quintet of ukuleles and drummer Gerry Conway on washboard. The title track, a playful romp written by Leslie with a tongue-twisting folk/rap lyric and an insanely catchy melody, is another winner.
