European Son is a song by the British band Japan. The song was written by David Sylvian in 1978 following the bands US tour. It was intended to be the title track of Japan's third album and Sylvian intended to record it with disco producer Giorgio Moroder. However, this did not happen as Moroder preferred the song Life in Tokyo.

Band Name Japan (UK). Album Name European Son. Type EP. Released date 1980. Members owning this album0. 1. European Son. 2. Alien. Other productions from Japan (UK).

Album: Assemblage, 1981. Has been played on. United Kingdom 43.

This CD features a remixed version of the 5/3/79 Budokan recording taken from a radio show, with the interview material removed, plus four bonus tracks from Japanese TV appearances in 1979 and 1980. The sound quality is better than the Budokan/ Big In Japan Bootlegs (Catalogue KK08 & CO 25160); less harsh. The two tracks from TV in 1979, 'Sometimes I Feel So Low' and 'European Son' are mono recordings.

European Son" is a song written and performed by the American experimental rock band The Velvet Underground. It appears as the final track on their 1967 debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico. It is also the album's longest track at more than seven and a half minutes. The song could be seen as a precursor to the band's next album White Light/White Heat and certainly to the song "Sister Ray", a g rock improvisation.
