Sir Thomas John Woodward OBE (born 7 June 1940), known professionally as Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer. His career has spanned six decades since his emergence as a vocalist with a string of top ten hits in the mid-1960s. He has toured regularly, with appearances in Las Vegas (1967–2011), and has had several career comebacks, such as his high-profile coaching role on The Voice UK from 2012 (with the exception of 2016). Jones's powerful voice has been described as a "full-throated, robust baritone".

Tom Jones was once again seen in a format reaching across all demographics worldwide. In 1991 Tom recorded an album for Chrysalis Records, UK. The project, entitled Carrying A Torch is highlighted by a collaboration with an old friend, Van Morrison. Van wrote, produced and played four songs while his band provided the backup. Tom Jones has revealed he has lost some range in his vocal abilities since he began his singing career. He told the BBC's Tim Muffett his voice has lowered with age.
