Anything But Ordinary. Patrice treats the listener to a vestige of the old,fun,disco-era music that she helped set the foundation of with"Anything But Ordinary". Patrice is the fourth, self-titled album by R&B singer Patrice Rushen. This was also Patrice's first album with Elektra Records after making three jazz-oriented albums with Prestige Records. With this album Rushen changes genre from jazz to a more R&B/pop music style. The album was heavily criticized by jazz's hardcore audience. Rushen found herself accused of being a sellout.

Patrice Louise Rushen (born September 30, 1954) is an American jazz pianist and R&B singer. She is also a composer, record producer, t, songwriter, and music director. Her 1982 single, "Forget Me Nots", received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Rushen had great success on the R&B and dance charts. Haven't You Heard" went to number 7 on the R&B charts, with "Forget Me Nots" as her only top 40 pop hit in the United States.

Patrice Louise Rushen (born September 30, 1954) is an American composer, record producer, t, songwriter, music director and vocalist. Rushen had great success on the R&B and dance charts, but "Forget Me Nots" was her only song to crack the Top 40 pop chart. Anything Can Happen is a 1952 film directed by George Seaton.

Switching from Elektra to Arista with 1987's Watch Out! proved to be a mistake, and it wasn't until 1994's Anything But Ordinary on the small Sin-Drome label that Rushen recorded again under her own name. Though this CD isn't in a class with Pizzazz or Posh, sleek R&B/pop tunes like "I Do," "My Heart, Your Heart" and "Tell Me" showed that the . native could still hold her own as a singer, composer and producer.
