Funkadelic is the debut album by the American funk band Funkadelic, released in 1970 on Westbound Records. The album showcases a strong bass and rhythm section, as well as lengthy jam sessions, future trademarks of the band. The album contains two remakes of songs from The Parliaments, an earlier band featuring George Clinton: "I'll Bet You" and "Good Old Music".

The main goal is the cover subtitle's stated claim to "rescue dance music 'from the blahs,'" and "Uncle Jam" itself does a pretty funny job at doing that, starting out like a parody of patriotic recruitment ads before hitting its full, funky stride. It's still very much a disco effort, but one overtly spiking the brew even more than before with P-Funk's own particular recipe, mock drill instructors calling out dance commands and so forth.

Uncle Jam Wants You is the eleventh studio album by American funk band Funkadelic. It was originally released by Warner Bros. Records on September 21, 1979, and was later reissued on CD by Charly Groove Records and Priority Records. It was produced by George Clinton under the alias Dr. Funkenstein. It is the first Funkadelic album since America Eats Its Young in 1972 not to sport a cover illustrated by Funkadelic artist Pedro Bell, though Bell did contribute some interior artwork

Side one is best described by Uncle Jam Wants You‘s subtitle, Rescue Dance Music ‘from the Blahs,' and is mostly given over to an extended version (a little too extended to sustain interest, unfortunately) of (Not Just) Knee Deep, the new Funkadelic single and an example of the group at its funny, funky, infectious best.

Still, Uncle Jam has enough foot-stomping grooves and curveballs to keep the serious Afunkcionado tapping his toes til the mothership returns. The CD starts off with "Freak of the Week," and segues nicely into one of the great funk jams of all time, "(Not Just) Knee-Deep. The overlooked gem on this CD is "Holly Wants To Go To California," which can only be described here as a curios mix of funk, gospel and something snatched from a high school musical.
