February 1 ·. I would like to bring to mind a release of which I'm still very proud. It tells the story of a little girl who lives through that awful night with killed over 1800 people in Holland alone. Today it is exactly 65 years ago Holland woke with part of it covered in water. The fear of water remains for the little country under the sea. The Collective - 1953

with 'innovation' the collective asked themselves whether it pays off to leave the beaten track; to take a step back and question yourself and your ways. it's a proven fact: 'innovation' has become a very intense and consistent album with a clear message. it's not for your average background listing sessions. the sounds are all over the frequency spectrum and the compositions are quite demanding to the listener.

field of view by the collective, released 29 October 2012 1. from a distance 2. power 3. underneath 4. the lie 5. a different perspective 6. from here by now it should be common knowledge . this collaboration resulted in an album which has the typical signature: massive deep drones and minimalistic sound collages are accompanied by minimal sequences and (un)steady beats that blend into the alienating soundscapes or set the pace for memorably haunting, atmospheric melodies. in the vocal department hiekelien proves herself to be an amazing singer, alternating between spoken word recitations as known. from earlier albums and one-of-a-kind songs.

Talk about The [Law-Rah] Collective - 1953

I fully agree with Doorchaser! A beautiful, carefully crafted album...
This album needs to be listened to as if you are reading a book! There's a very defined story in the track sequence (The flooding of Holland in 1953)! Actually it works best if you take a whine, whiskey, beer. you close your eyes and you listen to the story. There are dark brooding drones that reflect the subject very well! You can actually hear the water rising and the words of Hiekelien Van Den Herick add to the feel of despair. This is a true and genuine ode to the musician as a story teller! And it makes me feel good as a musician myself that I hear great care in the build up of an album. The [Law-Rah] Collective use Dark Ambient and Drone but do so much more with it. Truly a gem that asks for your time. And yes I consider my time well spent!!
