Philles Records Presents Today's Hits (1963). A Christmas Gift for You from Philles Records (1963). Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica (1964). A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector (originally released as A Christmas Gift for You from Philles Records) is an album of Christmas songs, produced by Phil Spector, and originally released as Philles 45 in 1963. The album has been released several times on different labels: the original release on Philles and the 1972 reissue on Apple were followed by additional reissues on Warner-Spector (1974; this was the first release to feature a stereo mix of the songs, although it ironically used the "Back to Mono" Apple cover), Pavilion (1981, also in stereo, using the Apple.

CD Philles Records Presents Today's Hits, also has some repeats except tracks by The Crystals, track by Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans, the Darlene Love tracks and track by The Alley Cats (that was actually recorded by Bobby Sheen -aka Bob B. Soxx- according to the liner notes). CD are the "b" sides to the singles and are instrumentals. Though not repeats, the songs on this CD are really short, the CD has a running time of only 34:30, and some only constitute jam sessions. But it's nice to have. A wonderful booklet that's filled with color.
But the Philles Album Collection persuasively testifies to his intuitions as a songwriter and his innovations as a producer. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, after the first round of unruly rockers but before the British Invasion, pop songs aspired to sugary alacrity, embodied by such marketably non-threatening acts like Pat Boone and Fabian. While the emphasis is squarely on albums, the Philles Album Collection does includes two compilations. Philles Records Presents Today’s Hits gathers some of the label’s biggest hits, including Be My Baby and Then He Kissed Me, but seems largely redundant without the inclusion of later smashes like the Righteous Brothers’ You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.
