Grateful Dead is an album by rock band the Grateful Dead. Released in October 1971 on Warner Bros. Records, it is their second live double album. Although published without a title, it is generally known by the names Skull and Roses (due to its iconic cover art) and Skull Fuck (the name the band originally wanted to give to the album, which was rejected by the record company).

Album · 2013 · 87 Songs. The Dead’s renowned concert performances were always more definitive than their studio records, so this anthology of seven of their canonical live albums is an excellent guide for charting their evolution. It moves from the psychedelic glory of an artful, 1969-era "Dark Star" to a 1971 performance of the country-rock choogler "Me & My Uncle"; from a Europe ‘72 jam of "Truckin'" to the shimmering roots rock of 1990's Without a Net. In one fell swoop, this collection stitches together the saga of an American legend. Live Albums Collection Grateful Dead.

The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack. The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack is a five CD live album by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded October 16–20, 1974, and was released on March 15, 2005. In 1974 the Grateful Dead were exhausted from touring, and it had proven too expensive and cumbersome to tour with the "Wall of Sound" sound system. In response, the group decided to stop touring for an indefinite period of time

The Grateful Dead have a large legacy of recorded work that only continues to grow - you've heard about that 73 CD 'Europe '72' box set, right? It's a lot to consider, so to celebrate the late great Jerry Garcia's birthday (Aug. 1), we decided to narrow it down to this list of the Top 10 Grateful Dead Albums: 10. 'Dylan And The Dead'. Two years after Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead teamed up for a stadium tour in 1987, this live album, 'Dylan And The Dead' was released, collecting performances from the tour.

Only 15 left in stock (more on the way). All is not lost though, because the digital version of the album features a few bonus tracks: a remastered single version of Dark Star (studio 2:41) and an interesting circus barker radio commercial promoting the album. Is Live Dead their best live collection ever? Nah, there are better ones. But if you grew up like me with the vinyl version of all of their albums, you'll appreciate this one for all the memories it brings back.

This is the Dead's first live album release and their best. Released in 1969, this album was meant to capture the energy of The Grateful Dead onstage, which is truly amazing. This album features some dead classics such as "Dark Star", "St. Stephen", and their fabulous cover of "Turn On Your Love Light". In my opinion the only other Grateful Dead Live album that rivals this one is Skull & Roses
