King's College Choir, Cambridge - Britten & Bernstein flac album

The King's College Choir is a British choir. It is considered one of today's most accomplished and renowned representatives of the great English choral tradition.

The world-renowned Choir of King's College, Cambridge joins Britten Sinfonia for performances of both works, conducted by Stephen Cleobury.

Performer: Choir of King's College Cambridge. Conductor: Philip Ledger, Sir David Willcocks. Composer: Benjamin Britten. Audio CD (October 25, 1990). Britten sets ten short sections, all dedicated to the glory of God in a manner somewhat foreshadowing the vissionary Blake or even Whitman. The cantata is scored for four soloists, four-part choir, organ and (in this version) percussion. Here again, Ledger's choir far surpasses Cleobury's 1990 disc. BUT it does not quite come up to the 1984 rendition by the Corydon Singers with Chance and Bostridge featured soloists. I just picked an album that didn't quite provide me with what the chorus music was capable of. I'll try to choose a better album.
