The Riptides are a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1998 in Ottawa, Ontario. The Riptides were formed in Ottawa, Ontario Canada in February 1998. The original lineup included Andy Vandal (vocals) Bob Goblin (bass), Johnny Dangerously (drums), and Steve Ransom (guitar) and the band released the cassette-only Harelip record. Later that year, Dangerously and Ransom left the country to travel abroad and were replaced by Doug Vermin (guitar) and Sean Shameless (drums).

Canadian Graffiti is The Riptides’ first new album in eight years and their eighth album overall. Not sure what they have been up to in the meantime, but who care. hey’re back with a whopping 18 pop-punk tracks and not a single dud in sight. Throw in some fun surprises in the form of a duet with Bif Naked ( ), guest contributions by 88 Fingers Louie’s Mr. Precision and artwork by Archie Comics artist Dan Parent, and you’re looking at a highly entertaining album.

Canadian Graffiti is snapshot of life and death collected over those eight y. .ars; we wanted to be proud of the album even if we only listened to it in our cars. In the end, we felt the record was cohesive, but it was also a bit schizophrenic because the songs were written at different times in our lives. I’ve already spent a fair amount of time singing the praises of The Riptides’ latest album, Canadian Graffiti (2017). Now you get to hear about my love for their newest seven inch, Wimpy Goes to Washington. The band also has their own beer.

On September 12th Ottawa pop-punk act The Riptdes will be unleashing their new album Candian Graffiti with the help of the good folks at Something To Do Records.
