Nothing is the fourth album by Swedish metal band Meshuggah, originally released in 2002. The album entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 165, slightly higher than the band's following effort, Catch Thirtythree. A last-minute decision to join 2002's Ozzfest tour forced the band to mix the album in two days and to master it in one. As a result, the album had its guitars and drums re-recorded for a remastered re-release in 2006.

Meshuggah (/məˈʃʊɡə/) is a Swedish extreme metal band from Umeå, formed in 1987. Meshuggah's line-up consists of founding members vocalist Jens Kidman and lead guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, drummer Tomas Haake, who joined in 1990, rhythm guitarist Mårten Hagström, who joined in 1993 and bassist Dick Lövgren since 2004.

Meshuggah have always been a rather electic band. Through six albums they have strived to create a sound that is unique and beautiful in its brutality. Yet while its uniqueness is unquestionable, its repetitiveness and ability to cross genre boundaries has always been something that is put into question.

Band: Meshuggah Album: None EP Type: Full-length Released: November 8, 1994 Genre: Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal Country: Sweden (Umeå) Quality: mp3 224 kbps Label: Nuclear Blast. Tracklist: 1. Humiliative 05:17. Carnal - Lecherous Acts of Hedonism (2019). The artwork is kinda similar to Putridity's second album xd. Today, 03:58.

None is where Meshuggah give us the first taste of the experimental and groove-heavy metal that they base their whole career and signature sound around. This isn't a derivative thrash piece like Contradictions Collapse. In fact, this establishes the sound of Destroy Erase Improve in a big change from their older thrash sound. It even stands apart from Destroy Erase Improve in this regard since this EP is even djentier than that album. That alone makes this EP unique, especially because Meshuggah would end up inspiring so many imitators with this, but this EP still stands above a lot of what came when djenting became a trend.

I purchased all 5 of the represses from Nuclear Blast and out of all of them this one sounds by far the worst. Not to mention mine did come in with a severe warp. If anyone else grabbed this variant let me know if your copy is plagued with awful surface noise. Pretty bummed out about this one because the other 4 variants made me quite happy. 11-28-2018: So as an update to this, I got in contact with Nuclear Blast and after providing a video and some pictures of the condition of the record, a replacement is on its way. I will update this review once I receive it and hopefully the surface noise and warp aren't nearly as bad the second time around. 12-1-2018: Here's a final update, I just got my replacement copy in the mail (and a day early too!) and this new one is flat like wood with little to no surface noise. My original copy was definitely a bad press and was not an accurate representation of how good this release sounds. I am happy to report getting a new copy brought new life to this release, purchase these represses with full confidence!

NickCaveman Most of the worst issues I have had with vinyls are with splatter records, I stopped buying them, black looks already good enough and, in my experience, might be biased, dunno, it is the colour that gives you the best sound, I really don't have an explanation of why but to me it seems so. I’ve had a few issues with some splatters in the past, but what was weird to me is my copy of Meshuggah - Meshuggah sounds fantastic and that was a splatter (most likely) from the same plant. With that in mind I don’t think it’s more of a widespread issue but more of a “one off” bad press. I have a new one on the way and will update this review if I find the sound to be a bit more tolerable the second time around.

Relish_the_Find How do the rest of them sound? ... The other 4 sound awesome! Especially the older records (EP and Contradictions) I feel benefited the most from these. They do have a more modern sound (They were all mastered by Thomas Eberger who did the mastering for their last release, Meshuggah - The Violent Sleep Of Reason), they're very boomy and can get loud with no problem. If you have any desire to pick these up I highly recommenced then. I just think I may have gotten a bad press of None unfortunately.
