The Choir was a garage rock band largely active in the greater Cleveland area from the mid-1960s into the early 1970s. Originally called The Mods, their largest commercial success came with the release of their first single "It's Cold Outside" in December 1966. The song, considered by many to be a classic of the garage rock era, was featured on Pebbles, Volume 2, one of the earlier garage rock compilation LPs (issued in 1979)

Crucifixion, seen from the Cross by James Tissot, c. 1890. The Sayings of Jesus on the cross (sometimes called the Seven Last Words from the Cross) are seven expressions biblically attributed to Jesus during his crucifixion. Traditionally, the brief sayings have been called "words". They are gathered from the four Canonical Gospels. Three of the sayings appear only in the Gospel of Luke and three only in the Gospel of John. 1. Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. 2. Today you will be with me in paradise. 3. Woman, behold, thy son! Son, behold, thy mother! . 4. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? . 5. I thirst. 24 Hours That Changed the World. Abingdon Press, 2009. ISBN 978-0-687-46555-2.

Our hearts unfold before Your throne. The only place for those who know. It’s not for us, it’s all for you. Send Your holy fire on this offering. Let our worship burn for the world to see. Not to us, but to Your name be the Glory.

He carried his cross up the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem to Calvary, was nailed to the Cross, and hung between two common criminals. He suffered an indescribable end, recalled by the Church on Good Friday of Holy Week. When religious pilgrimages to the Holy Land ended with military occupation of Jerusalem in the Middle Ages, a popular devotion known as The Way of the Cross arose during Lent retracing the Passion, Crucifixion, and Death of Jesus. John's Gospel related that it was the Day of Preparation, the day before the actual Sabbath Passover, that Jesus was sentenced to death (19:14) and sacrificed on the Cross (19:31).

You go before me You shield my way Your hand upholds me I know You love me. At the cross I bow my knee Where Your blood was shed for me There's no greater love than this You have overcome the grave Your glory fills the highest place What can separate me now. At the cross I bow my knee Where Your blood was shed for me There's no greater love than this You have overcome the grave Your glory fills the highest place What can separate me no. You tore the veil You made a way When You said that it is done.

Now, the Cross of Nails community at the rebuilt Coventry Cathedral takes its distinctive symbol to war-zones around the world, to inspire peace and reconciliation. Canon Justin Welby is a leader in that community. In that sense, the cross within Christian thinking marks the end of disruption of a relationship, and of a new future. Because it speaks of the possibility of new harmonious and peaceful relationships. But there's something about the cross that still holds us in its sway. The poet RS Thomas put the survival of the cross down to its great simplicity, its perfect geometry. But for me it has more than that. It connects with the violence and the goodness of humanity in equal measure.
