Leo Cuypers ‎– Theatre Music. Piano – Arjen Gorter (tracks: B1 to B7), Leo Cuypers. Recorded By – Dik de Graaf. Comes in a gatefold cover.

Leo Cuypers was the original pianist of the Willem Breuker Kollektief, although, at the time of this recording, he had just been replaced by Henk de Jonge. Happily, there appear to have been few ill feelings, as he's joined by Breuker, Kollektief bassist extraordinaire Arjen Gorter, and the always wonderful Han Bennink for a romping quartet set that can well serve as an ideal introduction to the Dutch jazz scene of the '70s and '80s.

Leo Cuypers, pianist and composer from southern Holland, is one of the great unsung heroes of Dutch creative music - as a bandleader, solo pianist and member of the first incarnation of the Willem Breuker Kollektief. Heavy Days Are Here Again was a project that brought Bennink and Breuker (who made the first ICP record, New Acoustic Swing Duo, together as a twosome back in the '60s) back together after a somewhat fractious split, and reunited Cuypers with Breuker as well
