Kid Ory & His Creole Band – Ballin the Jack. Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band – Snag It.

Album: The Joint Is Jumpin'!, 2017.

Ballin' Jack was an American horn rock group formed in Seattle, Washington in 1969 by Luther Rabb (bass and vocals) and Ronnie Hammon (drums). They had a minor hit in 1970 with "Super Highway", which hit on the Billboard Top 100. Rabb and Hammon were inspired by the success of their childhood friend, Jimi Hendrix. They added Glenn Thomas on guitar and, on the horns, were Jim Coile and Tim McFarland.

Ballin' the Jack is basically just a sensual, gyration dance with bumps and grinds. Notorious in its day, it was done as a solo dance or along with swing dancing. It's first public appearance was in 1913 at the Lafayette Theater in Harlem, the play was called "The Darktown Follies" produced by Leubrie Hill in the first act called "At The Ball, That's Al. Florence Ziegfeld loved it so much he purchased the rights and used it in his Follies of 1913

A jazz-rock instrumental sextet of the early '70s that charted briefly with its debut album Ballin' Jack and the single "Super Highway.
