Matthew Herbert (born 1972), also known as Herbert, Doctor Rockit, Radio Boy, Mr. Vertigo, Transformer, and Wishmountain, is a British electronic musician. He often takes sounds from everyday items to produce electronic music. In 1998, Herbert issued Around the House, which mixed dance beats, sounds generated by everyday kitchen objects, and vocals. By the late Nineties, Herbert was remixing tracks for dance artists like Moloko, Motorbass, Alter Ego, and others

Matthew Herbert - One One Matthew Herbert, the mad, eggheaded scientist of leftfield electronics is back in 2010 brandishing a new glut of concepts and tunes. However, whereas his last full-lengther, There's You and There's Me, featured 2,000 samples and over 350 participants, Herbert is re-entering the musical fray scantily clad. Thankfully he appears to have kept his clothes on, but One One, as the title betrays, is all about Herbert. Perhaps One One opens Herbert to accusations of whimsy, but the album is certainly an ear-opening insight into where his ever-expanding head is currently at. It's also brave step after the opulence of his Big Band output: Despite over 15 years in the game, his ability to keep his audience guessing with each release shows no sign of abating.

The experimental British musician and producer Matthew Herbert has been an involved and particular investigator of the possibilities of found sounds for over fifteen years; he's also interested in food, both within and without his profession. Most recently, he has released "One Pig," an album that follows the 25-month life of a pig on a farm. Even before its release, PETA wrote it off as shameless exploitation, but Herbert maintains that his intentions are quite the contrary

Matthew Herbert is clearly disturbed by the same things. One Pig, the third in a series of albums he’s produced using sounds based around a theme, documents the six-month life of a single pig. It’s a follow-up to One One, consisting of sounds produced entirely by Herbert himself, and One Club, made of recordings made in the course of single night at a German nightclub. To be sure, these aren’t pop albums you’re going to be reaching for on a regular basis, but they’re fascinating as musical experiments. Herbert has always been the right artist for anyone who loves to get lost in details, and One Pig is the perfect album to do that. More than anything, his music asks you to lean in and listen more closely. Those that do will get an experience that’s political, musical and tells a story in a way few albums do.

Talk about Matthew Herbert - One One

Coiriel
Great release i play it every time when i am in a sad mood because it has it's way to brighten my day, i was doubting to buy it first time, i was expecting minimal since i know Herbert to produce hectic stuff. But at the end i got it and understood what leftfield is... now is my favourite of all time, reminds me of Brian Eno- Another Green world i think they sing alike hahaha... Even though it's M Herbet's first release as a singer and having said that he use alcohol to get rid of the nerves. It's the defenatley the on i will always admire. Suggest similar releases for me Please.
