You're not doing it this alone You're not doing, You're not doing this alone. For my sweetheart the melancholic, you have crossed the river Styx And the waves have taken you away As I lay my head on your chest, I can hear it your veins Wake me up when you come to bed. So toughen up Biko toughen up Biko toughen up This world isn't kind to little things. For my sweetheart the melancholic You have crossed the River Styx And the waves have taken you away". Biko" is an anti-apartheid protest song by English rock musician Peter Gabriel. It was released by Charisma Records as a single from Gabriel's eponymous third album in 1980. The song is a musical eulogy, inspired by the death of the black South African anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko in police custody on 12 September 1977. Gabriel wrote the song after hearing of Biko's death on the news.
