Complete your Steely Dan collection. In the 1970s, there were a number of interesting albums by Steely Dan which pop music and jazz went together. The hard core of the group consisted of the duo Fagen and Brecker and for the rest from session musicians by album by the duo themselves were sorted out. In the 80s they worked both with varying degrees of success to a solo career. Alive in America" was recorded during their American tour in 1993 and 1994 and contains interesting live renditions of songs from their Steely Dan period.

Alive in America is a live album released in 1995 by US pop/ rock act Steely Dan. Steely Dan made seven slightly jazzy pop/ rock studio albums up through the seventies before splitting the band ( or actually project at that stage) up after their last album Gaucho (1980). They have since made two comeback albums in Two Against Nature (2000) and Everything Must Go (2003). Any Steely aficionado would understandably expect flawless renditions of all the gems included on this album but the live ambience that permeates the venue they're in humanizes both the creators and their creations, resulting in a wholly gratifying experience on many levels. One is reminded of their unique genius when the spellbound audience responds enthusiastically to this song's signature 'You got to shake it, baby' refrain.

Gaucho is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Steely Dan, released on November 21, 1980, by MCA Records. The sessions for Gaucho represent the band's typical penchant for studio perfectionism and obsessive recording technique. To record the album, the band used at least 42 different musicians, spent over a year in the studio, and far exceeded the original monetary advance given by the record label.
